First Look At New ‘Robocop’ Suit!

Mayimbe here with a quick weekend update…

MAN IN SUIT!

MAN IN SUIT!

ComingSoon.net scored themselves some paparazzi photos and got the first look of Joel Kinnaman (The Killing) in the new Robocop suit! Check them out below!

Filming started today up in Toronto.

What do I think? The suit to me looks like it was designed by Under Armour. It’s Kosher.

But did you know there is going to be more than one suit? Earlier in the week our boy Da7e took a look at the script for the reboot which you can peep here.

For high res versions of the pics, click on them to head to the original source.

MGM and Sony will drop the movie in theaters on August 9, 2013.

In RoboCop, the year is 2029 and multinational conglomerate OmniCorp is at the centre of robot technology. Their drones are winning American wars around the globe and now they want to bring this technology to the home front. Alex Murphy is a loving husband, father and good cop doing his best to stem the tide of crime and corruption in Detroit. After he is critically injured in the line of duty, OmniCorp utilises their remarkable science of robotics to save Alex’s life. He returns to the streets of his beloved city with amazing new abilities, but with issues a regular man has never had to face before.

    It Sucks!

    I like it

  • Reynolds Negrin

    It’s missing the bat ears.

  • tonightsmeal

Seeing that just ruined my weekend :(

    Alright, I’m calling it.

1990′s Robocop can kick 2013 Robocop’s ass all the way from here to Delta City.

    Second. Worst. Suit. Re-design. Ever!!!!!

(After the shite that was the Amazing Spiderman)

  • TheAtomicMystro

Is that the homo-erotic offspring of The Dark Knight and Iron Man? The dome reminds me of a Xenomorph, too.

  • http://twitter.com/TitansFreak32 Michael Bidwell

Right, because this is EXACTLY how the suit will look on screen, after post-production and editing. The base of the suit is what you see, but none of us know exactly how the final product will look on screen. After color correction, CGI, and whatnot. At least wait to see a trailer before you say “it sucks”.

Thas looks just aweful. So I guess the final version of the suit is going to look more or less like the illustrated design used for Da7e’s previous article for the review of the script .

  • A_Wise_Man

    Gayest. Suit. Ever.

  • http://www.facebook.com/bryanfontez Bryan Føntez

It looks a lot more practical and intimidating then the original suit.

And if I pictured a modern day cyborg with the technology/materials we currently possess, it would look something like that for sure.

I will admit I’m not a huge fan of the shiny dome helmet, reminds be of one of the helmet variations in multi-player for the game Halo 3.

But overall, after seeing this directors work on the “Tropa De Elite” or “Elite Squad” Films, I’m extremely confident this will be gritty, violent, quick, relevant and exciting.

    But it does suck.

    That’s just a fact.

Even without CGI-enhanced cape, Superman’s suit re-design looks pretty cool.
Even without CGI-enhancements, Ironman’s suit re-design (the red and gold ones) looks pretty cool.

    Ditto Thor.
    Ditto the original Spiderman.

    This. Just. Looks. Crap!

    CGI or not.

I think it’s very cool. All of us here in Brazil we rely on the work of José Padilha, who did a great job with Elite Squad 1 and 2

I hate to jump on the “hate bandwagon” but I will with full force.

I don’t know where this suit fits into the scheme of suits, but the great thing about the original Robocop film is that the suit of armor his leftover flesh was integrated with looked more machine than man. This just looks like a MAN in a great looking set of Tactical Gear. I don’t hate the idea of multiple suits of armor, but do it for the sequel(s). Give us ONE suit to really hitch our wagons to and then slap us around with changes as the franchise progresses. Yeah, it’s like Iron Man, but Murphy becomes Robocop, where Stark and Ironman are essentially two different characters.

  • Matt Shimon

Too soon Peter. Give it time to gestate. Hate it now, but let’s see if Robo-Reboot can hold up to it’s predecessor further down the timeline.

  • jazzyjules63

No sir, I don’t like it.

  • myclawismypenis

Hmmm….not going to say anything until i see some footage. One thing, not as bad as i would have thought..but at the same time, not as original as I would have hoped for..damn it, said something. lol.

  • Daniel Wood

Right, everyone is moaning about the helmet. It is not a dome, if you go geektyrant.com or even Slashfilm.com they have a blown up picture and you can clearly see the red visor slit for the eyes. Geektyrant.com has it on their main page.

Does everyone really think they would keep the 1987 look for 2013? If so, then you all need to look at what is happening in the world. Technology is far superior and this is what a high tech robot hybrid would look like if someone was designing it.

Plus the 1987 silver tin man look is not scary or intimidating, (even in 1987!) But I do love Robocop 1987, it’s in my top 10 and I really did wish they weren’t remaking it. (No way is it going to be as violent and funny) Besides I’m hearing it’s going to PG-13.

  • randomironicname

All that aside, why the fuck does that robot have abs?

  • myclawismypenis

Exactly what I was thinking..but Im just glad that it doesnt have nipples.

  • imautobot

Do not like. Looks too much like Iron Man. I bet they don’t even make his voice seem robotic. I am a big fan of the first Robo, and this doesn’t seem right to me. At the very least they better hit on the social satire, otherwise they might as well give this a different title.

  • randomironicname

Now all I can think about is what if he did have nipples; that were also guns.

  • Daniel Wood

Why don’t all the production design and concept artists on this little hate train do something practical, and design a robocop suit of your own.

That’s right, you can’t. You do not work in the film industry, you couldn’t get a job on a movie like this, and your drawing skills are that of a newborn baby.

Do you really think these people care about what you think? (And don’t start saying its us they should care about! we’re the fans, we deserve it! bullshit.)

All these companies really care about is cash.

  • ANTI Douche

    UR phuny!

  • myclawismypenis

THat would be pretty awesome if it was a female…without armor.

  • http://twitter.com/LuisHeffer luis heffer

    thats uuuuugggglyyyyyyy!!!!

  • randomironicname

Sold, I would pay to see that movie.

  • rennmaxbeta

You love ’87 RoboCop but say the remake looks superior?
