There’s some shake ups going on at Fox. First Tom Rothman is going to skedaddle at the end of the year, and now Rupert Wyatt may leave the sequel to Rise of the Planet of the Apes.
Why is Wyatt walking? The release date.
Fox set a May 23, 2014 release for Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, and Wyatt doesn’t want to rush production. While shooting the film can easily be finished in time, a production of this type, with so many digital effects, will have a long post-production.
Fox is said to be very happy with script from Rise scribes Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver, so if Wyatt is leaving, expect another high profile director to be announced soon.
My wife and I loved Rise of the Planet of the Apes and I hope Wyatt comes back for the sequel. What do you think?
