Amiee Garcia on ‘Robocop,’ Movie Takes Place In Near Future

Amiee Garcia gave a brief interview to the Chicago Tribune to talk about her involvement in José Padilha’s remake of ‘Robocop,’ currently before cameras.

What did miss Garcia have to say?

“I play Kim,” Garcia said. “She’s a scientist and her and Gary Oldman help bring Robocop to life. … She has a Ph.D from MIT and is at the forefront of robotic chemistry and physics. This takes place in 2028. She’s a prodigy handpicked by Gary Oldman’s character to work on this first of its kind experiment.
“I’ve watched more tech talks than I ever have in my life.  I’ve learned so much about the brain. The technical things this girl has to say, I want to make sure I understand what each and everything is. She might be a little bit of a punk too.”

Now I really want to look up what separates “robotic chemistry” from chemistry or biology that uses robots. I’m not being snarky, is it different?

Anyway – KIM – played by Miss Garcia (who you might know as Batista from Dexter) is the assistant to Gary Oldman’s Norton. Remember that monkey with the robot body that Gary Oldman makes dance? Yeah, that’s where Kim is introduced.

She also says the movie takes place in 2028 while I said 2039. If that’s a big difference to you, I apologize that this issue is now confusing.
