Guillermo Del Toro’s ‘The Strain’ Pilot Greenlit By FX, Carlton Cuse Will Exec. Produce

Guillermo del Toro and Chuck Hogan’s techno-thriller vampire book trilogy entitled The Strain has been greenlit as a pilot for the FX network.

Carlton Cuse (Lost) will executive produce and – pending a series order – be the showrunner.

The Strain trilogy shows New York fall under the infection of a vampire virus. The CDC sets up an investigation, and as you might expect – all signs point to the end being nigh.

Seems like FX is trying to create counter-programming for AMC’s The Walking Dead.  If zombies can be wildly popular on basic cable, why not vampires?

Cuse is already busy with Bates Motel over on A&E.

As a lifelong horror fan, it’s kinda neat to see horror become the genre du jour on television these days.

    This is great fuckin’ news! These vampires are the REAL deal and not some Twilight nonsense. And FX is a great network for it.

    Read them all. Loved them. I thought the books were gruesome enough to never get a PG rating for a movie. However for a show on FX, you can create such an enviroment and have that MA rating. If Walking Dead can do what they done and AHS being a great show on FX. I wonder about the casting. That should be interesting.

    just make it bloody,the books were great i loved them i was hoping for movies but tv will do i want to see them in live action..i think i would be great to play agustin gus elizalde due to am mexican and i been in a gang
