First Image From Inside Ark – Aronofsky’s ‘Noah’

Darren Aronofsky’s Noah – based on the biblical yarn of Noah rounding up a pair of every kind of animal on earth and stuffing them all into a giant ark so as to survive an apocalyptic flood — is currently in the midst of principal photography.

Director of Photography Matthew Libatique took to Twitter to give us our first glimpse at the interior of the famed ark.

He wrote:

“Pre lighting on the holiest day of the year.”

Then he linked to this photo, teeming with snakes and a camera-shy crocodile:

Noah deluges cinemas March 28th, 2014.

    The lighting has an almost magical flare to it. But, why so many snakes? I thought Noah only took male/female couples.

    Well at the time only a few species were known so theoretically they would have gone bushwacking and taken whatever they could find. And the known land mass was remarkably small….
