I hate when movies make casting choices that are obvious attempts to court notice by the Academy Awards. Yes, Scary Movie 5, I’m looking at you.

Scary Movie 5 hast just cast Audrina Partridge, Kendra Wilkinson, and our generation’s Sir Lawrence Olivier, heavyweight champ Mike Tyson. They join other master thespians Ashley Tisdale, Erica Ash, Lindsay Lohan, Charlie Sheen, Simon Rex, Molly Shannon, Terry Crews, Marisa Saks, Heather Locklear, Jasmine Guy, Angie Stone, Kate Walsh, Angela “Big Ang” Raiola and Sherée Whitfield.

Tisdale also sent out the following Tweet the other day:

“Lots of cameos shooting today on #scarymovie5. Super excited!!!! #thisjobisawesome”

No shit there’s a lot of cameos. At this rate even the extras are being played by recognizable “actors”.

Here’s the down low on the action:

The plot involves Three dancers — one veteran performer and two upstarts who are also best friends — vie for the lead in a new production from a snooty, aloof, imperious, and oversexed director.

Snooty, aloof, imperious, and oversexed French dance company director Pierre is putting on a new production. Jody (Tisdale), a Caucasian late-20s mother of two and her late-20s African American friend Kendra (Ash) are both vying for the lead in the production. Jody’s extremely controlling former dancer mother is determined that Jody will have the brilliant career that eluded her. The highly skilled mid-30s Diva veteran dancer with the company, Heather Daltry (Shannon), gets cut from the production and goes berserk.

… And hilarity ensues.
