Clive Russell & Richard Brake Join ‘Thor: The Dark World’

Marvel Studios’ Thor: The Dark World is netting some fantastic acting talent, as evidenced by today’s news that Clive Russell and Richard Brake are joining the cast of the Scandinavian superhero sequel.

Russell is set to play Tyr.  Tyr is a god of war, and happens to be Thor’s big bro — this time blood-related, unlike Little Orphan Loki.  You’ll recognize Russell from the recent Sherlock Holmes films, and he’s hooking up with Game of Thrones in its upcoming third season.

Brake has signed on to be a captain in Thor’s warrior posse – also known as the Einherjar.  You’ll best recognize Brake as Joe Chill, the murderer of Bruce Wayne’s parents, in Batman Begins.

Thor: The Dark World hits theaters November 8th, 2013.

Okay, so apparently I know shit about Thor, obvious by this question, but if Thor has an older brother that has blood ties to the throne, how is it Thor is the one who gets dibs?

@ Matt Shimon: Even better — how is it that when Thor was banished and Odin fell into the Odinsleep, did Loki and not Tyr take the throne? One could argue that perhaps because Tyr is the god of war, Odin may have cast him out of Asgard and he lost his legitimate claim to the throne, for some warlike problem he may have once committed.
