Universal Pictures is gearing up for a production slate that focuses almost exclusively on pre-existing franchises and animated family films.
NBCUniversal CEO Steve Burke spoke at the Bank of America Merrill Lynch 2012 Media, Communications & Technology conference in LA today, and the two buzzwords he emphasized to stockholders were “franchises and animation.”
Universal will definitely get the gears going for further Bourne films, despite Bourne Legacy‘s decent-but-not-great box office performance.
Burke also mentioned Ted which, aside from The Avengers, was the biggest surprise hit of the summer.
Universal wants to make Ted 2 as soon as possible. I’m guessing they’re going to back a Brink’s truck up to Seth MacFarlane’s house to get him to do it.
