Open Road Sets 2013 Release Date For Robert Rodriguez’s ‘Machete Kills’

Robert Rodriguez’s Machete Kills is set to hit theaters in 2013, thanks to Open Road Films. The distribution company purchased the film and announced yesterday that they’ll be releasing the Machete sequel, which brings back Danny Trejo as an ex-Federale agent.

Open Road Films used Twitter to announced that:

“We will bring Robert Rodriguez’s Machete Kills To Theaters In 2013.”

The film has a large cast that includes the likes of Michelle Rodriguez, Sofia Vergara, Amber Heard, Charlie Sheen, Lady Gaga, Antonia Banderas, Jessica Alba, Demian Bichir, Alexa Vega, Vanessa Hudgens, Cuba Gooding Jr., William Sadler, Marko Zaror and Mel Gibson.

This is the second film in the trilogy. The story revolves, once again, around a former Mexican Ferale (Trejo) who is recruited by the U.S. president for an impossible mission – to take down an insane revolutionary and odd billionaire arms dealer whose plan is to spread war and anarchy across the globe.

The film is produced by Rodriguez, Aaron Kaufman and Illiana Nikolic through Quickdraw Productions. Sergei Bespalov of Aldamisa Films, Alexander Rodnyansky of AR Films, and Rick Schwartz of Overnight Films also produced.

Here’s a new photo of Amber Heard and Danny Trejo starring into each others’ eyes.

There’s going to be a trilogy????????? That’s awesome and hilarious. For those of you that think it’s too late or you’re too old, this is proof my friends that you can accomplish things even late in life. Danny Trejo is in his 60′s and he’s headlining his own action(ish) movie trilogy. What more can I say?
