Is Mark Wahlberg Really Considering The Lead Role In Michael Bay’s ‘Transformers 4′?

There’s a rumor going around that Mark Walhberg might be starring in Michael Bay’s Transformers 4. That is not true. We repeat: Mark Wahlberg is not involved in T4.

The rumors about Wahlberg and T4 started when Twitch Film reported that Michael Bay was in early talks with Mr. Wahlberg for his next robotics sequel.

Bay slammed down the rumors on his blog, saying:

“The Mark Wahlberg T4 rumor is just a rumor. Mark and I are talking about another film project.

The actor and director recently collaborated in Pain and Gain, a film about a pair of bodybuilders living in Florida who get caught up in an extortion ring and a kidnapping scheme that goes horribly wrong. Dwayne Johnson, Anthony Mackie and Rebel Wilson also star.

There was another rumor going around, not so long ago, that the lead of the next Transformers would be a female. But word is that Ehren Kruger’s script will focus on an adult and his teenage child. And we’re still not sure of the gender of that adult.

Wahlberg is a successful actor with plenty of gigs and offers. He’s worked with great directors and has produced some great television. Maybe he never even considered being a part of T4, but what if he had? Would this type of movie/franchise be good for his career? Could Marky Mark be what this rundown franchise needs to be good again? (The first Transformers was good, don’t deny it.) Or would it ruin him?

Whatever the case, we hope that the project he and Bay are discussing is based on better material than aliens disguised as sports cars.

You know, the “New Kids (who are actually Old and Bald Men) on the Block” can squeeze this little project into their schedule. What!! They’ve split! Damn it, no wonder there weren’t many news on them lately. How about N’Sync? Nah, forget it!

I thought the Female lead angle might be a bit fresher. But…no. It’s hard enough to do without filtering it through the Bay-Frame.

She’d spend half of the movie in her underwear moving in slow motion covered in lens flare.
