‘Mass Effect’ Adaptation Gets New Writer

Legendary Entertainment is pushing ahead on the film adaptation of the mega-popular video game series Mass Effect.

So much so they’re hiring a new writer to give the film a “fresh pair of eyes.”  That writer is Morgan Davis Foehl, who’s replacing Mark Protosevich (Thor, I Am Legend) after he worked on the original draft four years ago.

Foehl doesn’t have a big track record yet, but he’s certainly made a name for himself in the writer community.  He started off as an assistant editor and then landed on the Black List with one of his feature spec scripts.

Variety describes the plot of the first game, which I assume is where the film adaptation will start:

“Takes place in 2183 and revolves around a human space commander who leads a team on a mission to defeat an ancient race of mechanized aliens that invade the galaxy every 50,000 years, wiping out all forms of organic life.”
