Curious New Pic of ‘The Wolverine’

Empire has a new pic of Hugh Jackman as Wolverine in The Wolverine.

What’s up with the bone claws?

As we know from Matt’s article, The Wolverine is not a prequel.

So, again, what’s up with the bone claws?

I’m thinking this is from the WWII scenes that are rumored to be in the film. If you remember in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Logan didn’t get his adamantium until around the early 80s. (I may wrong with the exact decade, but it was definitely well after the brief WWII scene.)

While the bulk of The Wolverine will take place after the events of X-Men: The Last Stand, I’ guessing this is from the beginning of the film or maybe a flashback.

What do you think?

Did Bane throw Wolvie down a pit too?

Clearly a flashback from WWII. Guessing they are going to set up the history with Wolverines love interest or something tied to the Japanese story line at some point in the film. Main part of it will be the “sequel” with him going back and meeting people he met before…but forgot about from adamantium bullets, right?

I like that this movie is a sequel (which at Hugh’s age is more believable, but I also dig that it appears to flash back to a time before X1. this both

    A) gives us more backstory (which is what the filst wolverine was supposed to do)
    B) May either retcon or reboot the events in the first wolverine making this movie both a Darker sequel and wrap up of the fist movie which was too campy and goofy to work as a true solo film

In a perfect world the proper x-men franchise would consist of X-men first class, Days of future past. X1, X2 and the wolverine, Plus of course any future x-men movies (both with the young cast and the regular cast) and any sidequels. I’m also interested in seeing how the rebooted fantastic 4 films can blend into the established x-men franchise

If you look at the pants Logan is wearing it is obvious that these are GI standard slacks, just worn and beat up – so therefore it may appear he was a POW in some fashion or another.
Also questions whether or not Sabertooth is in the film or mentioned – because both him and his brother fought side-by-side in WW1, WW2, etc.

I doubt they would do the pants in CGI, Fans gave them flack over doing the claws that way in the first one. As for Sabertooth, Lee Schneider isn’t on the cast list, so unless they recast i doubt the character will appear

  • Pagan05

Lee Schneider wasn’t in the last one either.

  • ramodelmar

agreed, more than likely it’s a flashback

  • Cerebral Illusionist

Make me wonder if they’ll have any future shots to tie into the new X-Men film.

I believe you mean Liev Schreiber.
