On Monday Robert Rodriguez began shooting his long awaited sequel Sin City: A Dame To Kill For. Jaime King and Jamie Chung are the latest actresses to join the project.
Rodriguez co-wrote the script with Frank Miller, the comic book artist who brought us Sin City and 300. Sin City 2 is a combination of comics storylines and new content. It’s part A Dame To Kill For, which was originally published in 1993, and also brand new material that Miller wrote specifically for the movie.
Mickey Rourke, Jessica Alba and Rosario Dawson are all returning for the sequel, as well as King, except here she’s playing a somewhat different role. In 2005, she played a prostitute named Goldie. Now she’s playing Goldie’s twin sister Wendy… which is sort of the same, but different. Chung will play mute female assassin Miho, a role that was originated by Devon Aoki.
Although principal photography is underway, there’s still a few roles left to fill. Those roles include Ava, Dwight and Johnny.
Rodriguez isn’t wasting any time. He just recently wrapped Machete Kills, which is being prepped for a 2013 release date, and immediately jumped into Sin City: A Dame To Kill For. Maybe he just got tired of putting off this sequel, no?
