Bryan Singer Will Direct ‘X-Men: Days Of Future Past’

Bryan Singer is returning to the X-Men franchise. He has just been announced as the director of X-Men: Days Of Future Past, the next installment in the superhero franchise.

Initially, Matthew Vaughn was said to be the one who would direct the sequel to the spinoff, but he pulled out. Instead he’ll be producing, along with writer Simon Kinberg and Lauren Shuler Donner.

Singer directed and wrote 2000′s X-Men, and 2003′s X2. He also produced and wrote the script for 2011′s X-Men: First Class. Singer is the one who launched this franchise, so it’s nice to see him return to the director’s chair once again.

X-Men: Days of Future Past is set to be released on July 18, 2014. Singer’s next film is Jack The Giant Slayer, which stars Nicholas Hoult, Elenor Tomlinson and Stanley Tucci. The film is scheduled to be released on March 1, 2013.

Sorry, but while Singer had helped usher in the modern era of Comic-to-film adapts, there are much more capable hands for this film to fall in. I realize Singer’s gotta eat, but can’t he sit at a DC table?

    Cool.

i’m in. i think as far as story and character go, singer’s x-films have been the best. hope this isn’t a case of finding someone who will simply be a yes man for execs. yeah, his superman was … what it was… but singer doesn’t strike me as an executive whipping boy. that’s brett ratner.

Singer wrote the story, not the script. Hopefully he has learned something from Matthew Vaughn who made a much better film that Singer’s previous X-related efforts. First Class blows the other two out of the water (pun intended). I can’t even acknowledge the Ratner film. Singer needs to show us he doesn’t suck anymore.

X2 is one of the best comic book films ever. His script was good for First Class, and I expect this to be good as well.

X2 is no longer one of the best comic films ever…
It may have been before folks like Christopher Nolan got ahold of Batman, or Whedon got ahold of The Avengers, or Matthew Vaughn got ahold of KickAss, or the X-Men and showed how to this type of story.

  • jadakiss

Cherokee Pete you’re an idiot. Matthew Vaughn does NOT have better films than Singer. are you retarded? First Class sucked ass compare to the other movies. not to mention the shitty FX. Singer will make First Class look like the first Hulk film

  • myclawismypenis

X2 is still the best so far.

  • myclawismypenis

Dark knight, ok. Avengers, ok. Kickass or first class..x2 is still better.

Wow jadakiss…you are right. I don’t know what I was thinking. Singer is awesome. Vaugh is not awesome. Thanks for clearing that up.

X2 is better than Dark Knight…serioiusly? We just have different taste in film. I have good taste…you have something else.
