Jon Favreau was signed on a ready to get a cast together for his film adaptation of the hit stage musical Jersey Boys, but Warner Brothers has decided to put the film into turnaround.
Per Variety the WB was apparently never really all that into the flick to begin with. They felt the story of Franky Valli and The Four Seasons would have limited international appeal.
What happens now?
The film’s producer, Graham King, is shopping it around to other studios like Twentieth Century Fox and Paramount. You see, Graham fought off a bunch of big time producers for the rights to Jersey Boys and has no intentions of letting it’s momentum dissipate like a fart in the wind.
With a script by John Logan, Jersey Boys was originally scheduled to start filming in January for a Christmas 2013 release. I guess we’ll have to wait a bit longer now.
