‘Toy Story 3′ Writer Michael Arndt Penned Treatment For New ‘Star Wars’ Films Already

Things just got a little more interesting for Star Wars: Episode VII (as if they weren’t already). It seems that Disney is pulling in the big Oscar-winning guns for the new films. Michael Arndt, the brilliant brain behind Toy Story 3, has already written a treatment for the next three Star Wars film.

Michael Arndt has written some great stuff including Little Miss Sunshine and the last Toy Story. He also wrote the screenplay for the upcoming Hunger Games: Catching Fire and Phineas and Ferb (so far, everything looks fantastic on his resume). Arndt is in line to work on the script for Star Wars: Episode VII next year.

But Arndt wasn’t actually hired by Disney to write the treatment. According to Deadline, the scribe was brought on board by Lucasfilm months ago to put together ideas to take the Star Wars franchise forward. And this all happened way before the George Lucas/Disney deal was finalized.

It’s still unclear if Arndt will be writing the screenplay for the next film, but Disney is considering him. Plus he’s worked with the company before so that must help him a little right? We think that fans and critics would agree that he’s a great choice.
