Star Wars: Return of Another Trilogy

With all kinds of information at our finger tips the world is a smaller place to be. The news of the world’s conflicts now hits closer and closer to home leaving behind a public numbed with socio-political upheavals.

Our entertainment is now increasingly more escapist, this can account for the success of such fantastic and awe-inspiring movie fare such as Lord of the Rings, Avatar, the Dark Knight, and… Star Wars.

Disney is on a roll to dominate pop culture and the acquisition of Lucasfilm after its Marvel purchase continues the trend.

Kathleen Kennedy, who will be George Lucas’ successor, plans to do two to three movies a year. The most prominent of these: Star Wars. Even though it’s improbable, it could be Disney will milk the iconic franchise until it bleeds.

There has only been the announcement of this future Star Wars movie, but already the rumor mill clamors for more. Quite a few directors have come up; the most interestingly mentioned being Guillermo Del Toro, if he could find the time. It also remains to be seen if the original cast of the first trilogy will appear or in what definite roles. There are also countless of books that can serve as inspiration to the next set of adventures.

Other successful titles that could be in play are Indiana Jones or the Land Before Time. Maybe we can get re-imaginings of forgotten fair such as “Willow” or “Latino.” And just maybe, if fate demands it, we can get the sprawling epic of “Howard the Duck” we all deserve.

    Willow is a beautiful film!

Hope the original cast appear in this Star Wars sequel, even to pass on the torch to their kids.

Heres who I’d love to see cast…

Jaina Solo- Jennifer Lawrence. (looks like Leia and Hans kid and has good fighting skills from hunger games, be one sexy Jedi!)

    Jacen Solo- Nathan Fillion.

    Anakin Solo- Joseph G Levitt.

Ben Skywalker- Charlie Hunnam (originally auditioned for Anakin Skywalker)

    Chewbacca – himself.

Admiral Thrawn – Tom Hiddleton (just read on twitter, he expressed interest in star wars 7, he looks like Thrawn in the comics/artwork etc.. woulda made a great young Moff Tarkin if they did the live action series imo)

i don’t know about the twins casting as there are 19 years between fillion and lawrence. lawrence is edging toward overexposure territory too, for my money. love charlie hunnam for ben skywalker, inspired casting there. tom hiddleston i think would make an acceptable thrawn, but i think of thrawn as older- someone out of left field like hugh laurie. joruus c’baoth? any ideas?

  • Josh

Repeat after me talkbackers: Thrawn will not be in the next trilogy, nor will it be based on that trilogy of novels.

    Sheesh, get over it!

  • HAHA

We knew this on the first day, both Kathleen and George said there will be a new movie every 2-3 years… report something new…

  • rsixsmith

and kenneth branagh as gilad pellaeon.

He shoulda been Obi Wan in the tv series between ep 3/4 imo. (or even in the prequels.

Means nothing, they may not base the films on the novels. But, doesn’t mean they cant borrow characters events etc from them. They do it weekly in Clone Wars already. The EU is non canon unless its said otherwise. Sometimes thats a shame, other times its a damn good job, otherwise the Millenium Falcon would have a living spirit in it, and i heard Chewie has a Jedi nephew or something like that. Oh, and at some point the galaxy gets invaded by a nest of big Ants.

forgot they were twins, Levitt and Lawrence then. (wouldn’t say Lawrence is overexposed, ive only seen her in one film)

NOPE to Hugh Laurie though, to Americans he is House, to us Brits he will always be a loveable buffoon from Blackadder and A bit of fry and laurie. Would be like casting Mr Bean as Tarkin to us.

Gabriel Byrn, Richard E Grant would also be great as Thrawn, or in any role. A bit of class needed too, some shakespearian actors like Alec Guiness was missing from the prequels, or underused. LOTR and even H Potter had plenty of them, and they turned out classy.

  • Han Solo

These characters should not be in the film. Why not bring us original stories with original characters?

  • john

I want to see an old fat Val Kilmer and his equally old midgit on a quest again!

  • ANTI Douche

    Truth. Willow is AWESOME!

  • ANTI Douche

    LOL’s.
    That would be fun.

If you “forgot’ they were twins, stay out of recommending anything dealing with any of those characters, clown. Also Charlie Hunnam for Ben is way too hold. dude man is in his mid 30′s Ben is a teenager.
