‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2′ Looks for Harry Osbourne and ‘Transformers 4′ Looks for Teens

Two big franchises are looking to cast significant supporting roles got the next films in their respective series.

First up, The Amazing Spider-Man 2.

Director Marc Webb is looking to cast the new Harry Osborne. Originally the part called for a muscular jock type of guy, but now they’re looking for someone a little more “dark and edgy”.

The names mentioned so far are Melancholia‘s Brady Corbet

Chronicle‘s Dane DeHaan

and Alden Ehrenreich

Who do you think can replace James Franco? I always preferred Franco’s performance as Osbourne to Maquire’s as Peter Parker. I think Franco’s a more natural actor and as a character Harry had more time to build up to his ultimate conclusion.

Thanks to LR reader Dan Cordwell for head on this, and for the pics.

Next up is Transformers 4.

Michael Bay has already cast Mark Wahlberg as his male lead, but he still needs two high school students for his female lead and second male lead.

The young women up for the girl, who is the daughter of Wahlberg’s character, are: Abbie Cornish’s little sister Isabelle, Nicola Peltz perhaps best known for M. Night Shyamalan’s The Last Airbender, Andie MacDowell’s daughter Margaret Quallay and Gabriella Wilde from the Carrie remake.

The dudes in line for the boyfriend are: Luke Grimes from Taken 2, Terra Nova‘s Landon Liboiron, Australian actor Brenton Thwaites, newcomer Jack Reynor and Weeds co-star Hunter Parrish.

Who would like to see in these supporting roles?

Whatever they do i hope they dont take the kid from terra nova… Out of those guys Hunter Parrish would seem to be a winner

Harry was good in the Raimi films, (first two i mean) But I don’t think we need to see all that Harry Osbourn stuff again do we? I’m up for seeing a new Green Goblin at some point that doesnt look like power ranger, but, I’d rather see new villains. Lizard and Electro at least were unseen on film before. How bout Rhino? Vulture, etc… Osbourn jnr I think would slow things down too much and take away from villain/spidey time.

I couldn’t care less about who plays Osbourne; I didn’t like the reboot, and I don’t want to revisit old ground in the next movie. I missed the first movie when it was in theaters, but I did get a chance to watch it Friday night. I was in my office at DISH surfing online, when I saw that The Amazing Spider-Man was available to rent to my DISH Hopper DVR. I ordered it and it was ready to watch by the time I got home. That movie was ok in itself, but I think we could have skipped the origin story this time around. How about something new? Can we see Carnage on screen? You want a darker tone and a darker movie? Then lets see some Carnage already.
