Maybe Matthew Vaughn is Directing ‘Star Wars: Episode VII’?

There’s been a lot of speculation as to who is directing Star Wars: Episode VII. So far major players like Steven Spielberg and J.J. Abrams have pretty much taken themselves out of the running saying they love Star Wars and don’t want to touch it. Then there’s Jon Favreau who didn’t say no to directing. There’s also Frank Darabont, who I haven’t heard anyone but myself mention, so I’ll mention him again.

One name that keeps coming up is Kick-Ass and X-Men: First Class director Matthew Vaughn, and it came up again in London during some “green carpet” interviews for 7 Psychopaths.

Per Harry Knowles at AICN, actor Jason Flemyng “pretty much let slip that Matthew Vaughn will be on Star Wars VII duties”.

What does this mean? Flemyng is buddies with Vaughn, so it’s possible he knows something of what project Vaughn will pick up next; but without confirmation from the director or studio all we can really do is add it to the rumor pile.

Is AICN the only place you get some reports? This has been doing the rounds for a day and a bit now on DEN OF GEEK and a host of other british sites. Please can you stop referencing Knowles and the rest on his site. Yes they started the internet movie forums etc but they have gone down hill. Mostly due to Harry and his team did the script review for Drew’s screenplay and praised it. It is shit by the way
