Hamill talks about Luke Skywalker’s Future

With Star Wars number seven in the works, is there any hope that the original cast will reunite on screen for their fourth outing?

One of the series original stars, Mark Hamill who played the iconic Luke Skywalker, offers some thoughts on potential casting. Hamill, while speaking on behalf of Carrie Fisher, seems rather pensive because of how there is no hint of a story, saying:

“We have questions about it. And really, they’re not even at the stage where they’re able to answer those questions because, as far as I know, is there a story yet?”

It will all depend on what writer Michael Arndt can cook up for this new series and what will ultimately influence this Oscar winner.

Hamill does find his time making the first trilogy of the franchise as a pleasant experience, giving praise to George Lucas and co-stars Fisher and Harrison Ford.

Even though there’s a possibility of his return, Hamill prefers to let the new creative team do the talking and make the best possible decisions for the set of films. Given his age, he doesn’t mind if they use another actor to play him in future installments saying:

“They would get an age-appropriate actor. There’s so many good people.”

I think if producers went with anyone other then the orginal cast in their respective roles fanboys would riot and go all SWINO.

I’d love to see force ghost obi wan return either through CGI or an aged/makeuped ewan macgregor

I also think we need to see billy dee williams return as Lando,

Other things on my want list include

    Boba Fett!
Jar jar/Gungans in some capacity (done right though)
    Ewoks
    The Hutts!
    Podracing
Stormtrropers (there had to be several thousand troops that still put up a fight even 20 years later)

The original cast has to come back. Luke would have to play an important role IMO. Bringing balance to the force = what? Convincing his dad to kill the emperor? They would have to expand on his story or bring greater substance to it. If they dont want Hamil thats fine but they would need to buttress Luke’s importance in a great summed up way like a 5 min after the fact review of some sort and base the new triology many years into the future.

and everyone’s so worried about the fanboys’ preferences :) even mark hamill sees the sense in recasting age-appropriate actors. i could probably recite the original trilogy forward and backward, and i doubt any other actors will mean as much to me. but christ on a cracker, let’s move the eff on. the i only way i want to see the original cast in their roles is if they pick up the story years and years after rotj. but i’d prefer to pick it up not that far out after rotj.

I wouldn’t have him be the main focus. Id have it him and Leia are surrounded by padawan Jedis in the new temple telling stories of the old republic and battles from the old database. First movie all young Yoda and his master fighting off the Palpatines master and some invading race.
