Sly Stallone Says Nicolas Cage Isn’t In ‘The Expendables 3′

Well, this is weird. It turns out that all the news on Nicolas Cage joining The Expendables 3 is untrue. Sylvester Stallone has told a credible site that he has no knowledge of Cage joining his next sequel.

Stallone told Deadline that he “has no knowledge” of Cage’s involvement in Expendables 3. Yesterday, Cage made the news when various sources sited Stallone’s Facebook and the Spanish daily El Pais, which said, in a nutshell, that the Oscar-winning actor was confirmed for the movie.

Here’s what Sly said:

We are preparing the film with the same passion and commitment as the previous two. We have confirmed Nicolas Cage, a master actor who gives a veneer intellectual group. Hopefully we can realize to Harrison Ford, Wesley Snipes and Mickey Rourke. That is the great mission of the producer. We will continue with the same narrative scheme, the agility and the frenzy, which are inherent to the saga. What will definitely be the last? I can not guarantee. In principle it would be two deliveries, but the affection of the people encouraged us to work on a third. I guess as long as we amused ourselves by offering fun and people, we can continue playing ‘The Expendables’. For now we are not as expendable as it should and as some critics want.

Some of these statements were actually made during a European junket this past summer for Expendables 2. There is some truth to it as Stallone does wants the actors he’s mentioned to join the sequel, but nothing has been made official.

The “quote” above reads to me as if it was written by someone who cannot speak English, using Google translate. I know we have a laugh at Sly but he is actually a lot more eloquent than that. “Hopefully we can realize to Harrison Ford,…” sounds very European to me. Sounds like a hoax to me and I’m shocked a lot of sites believed it given how bad the whole paragraph reads.

Sadly, for us, we won’t be able to witness his veneer intellectual group…
