Smaug Takes Flight In ‘The Hobbit’ TV Spot

After a long wait and many delays the cinematic version of “The Hobbit” has finally taken flight.

Directed by Peter Jackson, it will be the second time that J.R.R. Tolkien’s beloved fantasy world will be adapted. “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey” will be released stateside December 14 of this year.

For those unfamiliar with the story that precedes the “Lord of the Rings” Trilogy, the narrative follows Bilbo Baggins, an ancestor of Frodo, as he adventures in order to help dwarves reclaim the Lonely Mountain and its treasures. The villain will not be the iconic Sauron from movies past, but the nefarious dragon Smaug.

The first glimpse of Smaug has appeared, even if it is for only an instant, it is enough though to titillate fans of Tolkien’s work brought to life.
