After much debating and whispered rumors, Jamie Foxx will officially become Electro for the newest installation in the Spider-Man film franchise.
Foxx has been hunting for the role for quite sometime and has hinted at the possibility of playing the infamous character, such as tweeting about how he wore Electro’s uniform for Halloween.
The director, Marc Webb, seems to have alluded to the character’s status in the home version of “The Amazing Spider-Man” saying: “I like Green Goblin. I like Electro a lot. I think Electro is pretty fantastic.”
“I met with the director, Mark Webb, I met with Andrew Garfield, and we talked,” says Foxx, “I think Electro will be an exciting character to play because he’s a … genius electrician-type person, and he gets the short end of the stick from the whole world, and the next thing you know he turns it on.”
Along with Foxx, will be newly-casted Dane DeHaan as Harry Osborn filling out the casting with an ensemble of old Spider-Man favorites including a new Mary Jane.
The sequel to “The Amazing Spider-Man” is being planned for a 2014.
