‘Man of Steel’ Video Visualizes A New Superman

There’s a new video from Man of Steel, which you can see below. It features Visual Effects Supervisor Joe Letteri “talking about the importance of tapping into universal sensibilities when bringing Superman to a new generation of viewers.”

Zack Snyder’s Superman reboot hits theatres next summer and it’s said we will get to see a different take on the character. I just hope whatever Snyder and crew did is in keeping with the spirit of Supes. I know characters evolve over time, but the core of the characters needs to stay the same. If not, you just get a dude in a cape calling himself Superman.

Man of Steel hits theatres June 14, 2013.

    Well…explain to me Mr. Visual FX guy….why the hell Superman would have “contrails” behind him as he flys? Superman is not a plane engine or a wing, BUT…it looks cool right? Oh…and while I am at it….great job Zack for ripping off the original Iron Man trailers final shot of Iron Man with contrails going super sonic…..way to be original. I don’t have high hopes for this film.

    You’re welcome Comrade. You’re forgetting that Supes landed in a Red State and was raised by 2 right wing religious wackos who instilled in him a strong moral compass. Early Supes fought for Social Justice and against Tyranny, not Collectivism/Socialism which has defined most of the brutal authoritarian regimes from the last century that murdered more than a 100 million. Other DCU Heroes have called him “The Big Blue Boy Scout”. Just sayin.. oh and Lex should be capitalized. “Truth, Justice, and the American Way”. Oh wait, can’t say that anymore.     tyranny has been wrought by socialists, communists, and yes, capitalists. also by religions of almost every flavor. usually, some psycho or group of psychos who think their One Idea- whatever that Idea may be- is the blanket cure for all of man’s ills is at the heart of the problem. fortunately for me, i live in a country where we can vote on some socialist solutions, some capitalist ones, and combinations of the two. i rather think THAT’S the american ideal superman fights for. we can also choose to change those choices down the road. it’s when your Idea becomes the One And Only when the trouble starts. you seem to know very little about early superman and evidently about as much about the period in american history that gave him life. at that point in time, some pretty fucked up capitalists had recently sent this country into a worse- yet similar- economic state as we’re experiencing now, causing many thousands of deaths through poverty and homelessness. it was not george w. bush’s america that superman originally fought for. it was franklin delano roosavelt’s. you know, that ‘socialist’ president that Capitalists hate so much.

    Well, all this talk of capitalist/socialist stuff and even the truth justice and the American way logline, .. unless I’ve missed something about Superman, all I’ve ever seen him fight is Aliens/monsters/criminals that want to destroy earth or its innocent people. Oh and he also rescue people from accidents and disasters etc.. Never seen him declare war on any other nation etc..
