Oscar Isaac And Jason Clarke Get Lead Roles In William Monahan’s Thriller ‘Mojave’

Departed writer William Monahan has found the two leads for his upcoming thriller Mojave in Oscar Isaac (The Bourne Legacy) and Jason Clarke (Zero Dark Thirty).

Monahan wrote the screenplay and will be directing the film as well. According to Empire Online, Mojave will tell the story of a man who escapes into the desert, only to find a doppelganger-like antagonist and get drawn into a vortex of criminality. No word on who’ll be playing who.

The casting choices are terrific. Isaac was one of the few good things in Zack Snyder’s Sucker Punch. He was creepy and scary and down-right terrifying. He’s did a movie with the Coen Brothers, co-starred in Drive and will play a lead character in Therese Raquin alongside Elizabeth Olsen and Jessica Lange. His co-star Jason Clarke also has an impressive resume. He can next be seen in Kathryn Bigelow’s Zero Dark Thirty and Baz Luhrmann’s adaptation of The Great Gatsby.

Monahan is probably best known for his Academy Award winning screenplay for The Departed, which Martin Scorsese directed in 2006. His own directorial debut London Boulevard didn’t do so well, but hopefully he has better luck on this next feature. He’s got two good actors, plus he’s delivered great work before, who’s to say he can’t do it again?

Principal photography for Mojave starts in early 2013.
