‘Oblivion’ Trailer Is HERE!

The trailer is now officially online for the sci-fi movie “Oblivion” from Tron: Legacy director Joseph Kosinski, who also created the graphic novel upon which the film is based.

The film stars Tom Cruise, Morgan Freeman, Olga Kurylenko, Andrea Riseborough, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau and Melissa Leo.

Tom Cruise stars in “Oblivion,” an original and groundbreaking cinematic event from the director of TRON: Legacy and the producer of Rise of the Planet of the Apes. On a spectacular future Earth that has evolved beyond recognition, one man’s confrontation with the past will lead him on a journey of redemption and discovery as he battles to save mankind.

Jack Harper (Cruise) is one of the last few drone repairmen stationed on Earth. Part of a massive operation to extract vital resources after decades of war with a terrifying threat known as the Scavs, Jack’s mission is nearly complete.

Living in and patrolling the breathtaking skies from thousands of feet above, his soaring existence is brought crashing down when he rescues a beautiful stranger from a downed spacecraft. Her arrival triggers a chain of events that forces him to question everything he knows and puts the fate of humanity in his hands.

“Oblivion” was shot in stunning digital 4K resolution on location across the United States and Iceland.

The film opens exclusively in IMAX on April 12 and then in wide release April 19, 2013.

This looks like another movie that had a lot of potential until they decided to cast Tom Cruise in it.

  • fingerscrossedtho

i have to agree – cruise is so hollow and morgan “lennon” is textbook boring – olga looks the best thing about it – other than the non prometheus copied landscapes

Looks interesting. I figure that the reason that this movie got made is Cruise, and that I can respect. It looks better than other movies that ive seen recently.

But at least it is an original big budget genre film. In this day and age that’s an amazing achievement and makes it worth seeing.

  • myclawismypenis

yep! thats what i was thinking as well.

  • ANTI Douche

    True.

  • ANTI Douche

    Also, true.

An nice, positive way to look at Cruise’s involvement.

  • myclawismypenis

well, i figured that he can pretty much get anything made these days, so its kinda cool of him to try and get something like this out there….all hail xenu

    You had me…
    Until the end…
    When you mentioned Tommy…
    Hailing a ‘sneeze’. ;)

Tom Cruise is a legend. Phenomenal actor. Collateral? Valkyrie? Minority Report? Interview With a Vampire?? A Few Good Men? Aside from Cruise, Denzel Washington or Clint Eastwood, there aren’t too manyother actors that I would pay to go see without question.
Oblivion will be another fantastic film added to the list his achievments.

I really wish it wasn’t so easy to be “so well informed” about stars’ personal lives. Plenty of the greatest American actors where and are as effed as the media makes him seem- Liz Taylor, marlon Brando etc.. Not that he necessarily belongs in the same grouping, but even so… I think Tom cruise has as much ability to bring an A game as the rest when it’s a different sort of movie for him- more interesting/original concept, etc. Not so excited about reacher, but yeah, I’ll see this. Maybe I’m just nostalgic.
