Early this morning, Jenni Rivera boarded a Learjet for a quick flight with her entourage from Monterrey, Mexico to Toluca.
Sadly, they didn’t make it. The wreckage was found in the mountains sixty miles from where the plane took off. All seven passengers and pilots were killed.
Earlier this year, I saw Ms. Rivera, the mother of five and grandmother of two, make her acting debut and what is now going to be her only on screen performance in this year’s Sundance hit Filly Brown. She plays Filly’s incarcerated mom and it was a pretty good debut.
You can read my review of the film here.
At press time, distributor Indomina has no announced release plans for the film, but I’m hearing that the film will drop in April.
What is really sad is that Ms. Rivera was on the up and just made a deal last week to headline her own television show on ABC.
Really sad day for our Mexican readers. In fact sad day for Latinos period.
Our condolences to the families of not only Ms. Rivera but to the families of those who perished in the crash as well.
Do yourselves a favor and peep Filly Brown when it comes out in 2013.
Here is the trailer.
Hasta el proximo capitulo mi gente…
