‘Man of Steel’ Trailer is HERE!!

Warner Bros. Pictures has released the new trailer for Zack Snyder’s “Man of Steel” starring Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Michael Shannon, Kevin Costner, Diane Lane, and Laurence Fishburne.

Snyder directed the film from a screenplay written by David S. Goyer.

In the pantheon of superheroes, Superman is the most recognized and revered character of all time. Clark Kent/Kal-El (Cavill) is a young twentysomething journalist who feels alienated by powers beyond anyone’s imagination. Transported to Earth years ago from Krypton, an advanced alien planet, Clark struggles with the ultimate question – Why am I here? Shaped by the values of his adoptive parents Martha (Lane) and Jonathan Kent (Costner), Clark soon discovers that having super abilities means making very difficult decisions. But when the world needs stability the most, it comes under attack. Will his abilities be used to maintain peace or ultimately used to divide and conquer? Clark must become the hero known as “Superman,” not only to shine as the world’s last beacon of hope but to protect the ones he loves.

Have a look at the trailer below and let us know what you think. All I have to say is what’s with the ‘Gladiator’ type of soundtrack?

“Man of Steel” will fly into theaters on June 14, 2013.

I have to say, this movie looks pretty awesome. I dont follow the SM comics at all so im going into this with a completely fresh and open mind, but so far this already looks way better than that crap movie that came out a few years ago.

  • ANTI Douche

Trailer is horridly edited, paced, and jumbled…
That said, what’s in it… LOOKS FRIGGIN SWEET!!! :)

  • mikeriv

looks good, hope they focus on sup and the character develop and not on all the other fluff. Synder is a good direction (my opinion) all of his movies I enjoyed watching and I think he will do right here. Sup is the most iconic superhero in my mind and we need a movie that does him justice like Donner did years ago with Christopher R.
Where is Miss Tassbocker!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Get Gene his robe!!!!!!

  • RENNY

    FUCKING AWESOME

Yeaaaaaah Boooooooiiiiiiiii!!!!!! Here’s hoping he actually throws one punch..COUGH!–Superman Returns– and reinvigorates the Supes franchise, and jolts a Justice League movie.

Kellvin… I usually don’t mind reading your articles, but it’s aggravating when all you have to say after a pretty good trailer is “what’s with the gladiator type of soundtrack”. Seriously? That’s ALL you have to say after seeing that? Lame.

  • Dan

This looks like the movie will borrow some plot & themes from Superman: Earth One, where young Clark is reluctant to be Superman until an alien whose race was behind Krypton’s destruction (the movie could easily just make this Zod) comes to earth looking for him. Even if that’s not it, I like the idea of the movie dealing with whether humanity is ready for, or maybe just ready to trust, Superman.

Marvel needs to increase the pace by a faaaaar margin, cuz they just might have some competition.

I never had a doubt about this film. I’ve been on the bandwagon ever since I heard who was putting this together, even after hordes of people were spit-balling Snyder for Sucker Punch.

It’s not rocket science: Zack Snyder’s vision + Nolan’s sensibilities = Academy Award WINNING picture.

That being said, PLEASE have Joseph Gordon Levitt be some version of Nightwing and have Bruce come back as a mentor/Oracle type who occasionally throws down (like his Older self in Batman Beyond/Kingdom Come).

I thought it was a great trailer but regardless, that is the first thing that comes to mind when you listen to the music.

  • phantomDJ

I have to admit i kinda shed a tear when I saw that trailer.

Ok….I have been hating on this film for a long time because I am not a fan of Snyder. Just watched the new trailer and it looks epic and amazing. I might be eating some crow on all my squawking.

  • jazzyjules63

If this turns out to be as good as the trailer I say give Snyder the Justice League movie.

  • Cerebral.Illusionist

FINALLY… DC look to be getting their characters right on screen. Now GL right and start on the Flash.

  • Juliomario14

Pa Kent: Lover of secrets, hater of children.

Most people that have commented on here love the trailer. Well…the first half nearly put me to sleep. The second half however…got my attention.
    Things I don’t like: 1)Too gloomy/dismal looking
    2) The music is not inspiring
    3) Another brooding Superman.
    4) Wish Nolan had nothing to do with it.
    5) Looks like Batman Begins.
Didn’t we get that with Superman Returns and ten years of Smallville ?
Things I love: 1) At first I was against a Zod rehash…but we’ve only had him in 2 superman movies and in Smallville…so an update is ok…I suppose.
    2) Love the Special effects. The destruction of Krypton looks brutal !!! ( The chick standing with the city going up in flames…that’s Krypton folks)
    3) wheather it is good or bad, we got us a new Superman film. Here’s hoping it’s not a snoozefest like Superman Returns.

    Yes Snyder, Not Nolan !!!

  • rsixsmith

wow, huge silly grin on me.

  • Steve Jones

I’m 99.9% sure the music here will not be in the movie, It is “Elysium” from the “Gladiator” score, but its a trailer. It happens quite often that a trailer uses a score from another movie. Just like how the 1st Gladiator trailer uses the main score from Conan The Barbarian.

Thank god…! That music about killed me.

  • http://twitter.com/zdelorean john delorean

ooh, a brooding hero. Such an new approach to comic book movies. Supes is just boring as it is no need to make him embrace the boredom.

  • clark

incredible. almost peed in my pants on the part where supes is flying outerspace

  • clarkkent

    agree!

  • clark

    seems a tad…. british… oh well..

  • cynic000

I agree with all of your points. The music set a gloomy mood that the visuals did little to counter. Superman is the bright, shining light of the DC universe, a beacon of good in a sea of, well, cynicism. His world should reflect that, instead of being as dark and depressing as Batman’s decaying Gotham.

Another thing that bothered me was Pa Kent’s callous disregard for human life. In on breath he tells Clark that it might have been best to allow a busload of children to die to protect his secret, yet in the next he’s telling him that everything depends on the kind of man he (Clark) chooses to be. What if Clark chose to be the kind of man who could save himself while allowing other innocents to perish? Would he be the sort of man whom others could ever depend upon to do the right thing, regardless of the danger to himself?Pa Kent’s attitude was the antithesis of what Superman stands for. That was an incredibly sour note in an otherwise okay (not spectacular) trailer.

  • myclawismypenis

Just what i had hoped for. Even though, I did get shocked
from papa kent’s comment about the kids on the bus.

  • ANTI Douche

    Hello, CK…
    Indubitably! ;)

  • Piablo

You clearly do not have any children. As a father, a protector of your child, if you had the choice to save your own son or a bus load of someone else’s kids who would you save? Maybe something more relevant for you… would you save your brother, or save everyone else on the bus and let your brother die hoping he’d understand? Risking the world seeing his powers risks his life with his family.

  • C Dawg

No offense, but they actually have set the tone perfectly for Superman. Superman, if was real, would be hunted by the govt. Perhaps even tried to be controlled if not killed. First off. So your beacon of good is completely ridiculous in the realniverse.

Secondly, Pa Kent is represented accurately. Wanting to hide his sons powers so no one finds out who he is is completely normal. This will later haunt clark when he is unable to save Pa Kent from his demise — watch.

In order for superman to be what he is, the world, accurately, must be dark and depressing as you say. Thats how you make the contradicting between good and evil.

If your not happy with this, go rent Returns. Thats the movie for you.

“what’s with the gladiator type of soundtrack”

Well, the soundtrack is ethereal, spiritual. And Superman is a God among men. Therefore, you have your connection.

  • Rey

Here is hoping they give it something of Secret Identity….overall, it looks promising.
