Sylvester Stallone’s “Expendable” franchise has included the top-tier of action heroes from the ‘80s to the ‘90s. It is almost a final tribute for those who have worked within that timeframe, making the most memorable of action movies. Some stars have seemed to be left out, but if so, not for long.
Jackie Chan will be the newest asset to the testosterone-fueled nostalgic series of action films. Chan has been recently promoting his newest film, “CZ12.”
Chan says:
“Sly had invited me to be in ‘Expendables 2’ but I was too busy filming ‘CZ12’ and couldn’t make a commitment to the film. But he did extend his invitation to the third movie, which I agreed on the condition that I will be appearing as more than just a minor role with a few scenes.”
The one stipulation for Chan is the movie must have a sort of buddy movie vibe. Currently, though, Stallone is working to make sure that’s possible.
Chan will also be working on the potential film, “Skip Tracer.” It will be along his forte of East-Meets-West team-ups he has had with such actors as Chris Tucker and Owen Wilson.
Chan says of the possible film:
“The script is currently viewed by Chris Tucker. Personally, I feel that if he were to pick it up, it would be better if we turned it into “Rush Hour 4″ but I do think that three movies for the franchise is a perfect ending. It would be better to start a new buddy movie with someone new.”
It will be quite a delight seeing Chan perform those crazy maneuvers he did in his heyday now that we know he is up for it. “Expendables 3” might be released for 2014, but much of that is up in the air.
