Forget The Green-And-Yellow Electro Suit, Says Jaime Foxx

ElectroCropped

BlackFilm.com caught up with Jaime Foxx as he was out promoting Django Unchained, and they asked the actor if he was excited to don Electro’s green-and-yellow suit in The Amazing Spider-Man 2.

According to Foxx, Electro is getting a makeover:

“It won’t be green and yellow. It will be a different color. They (the producers) want something for the future. They want to have it more grounded and not as comic book-y, so it won’t be green and yellow. They want to try new things, like a liquid rubber and things like that, and there are all these bolts and stuff in my arms when they are hanging me upside down and trying to figure out what happen. How did he become this way? So, it will be some new stuff.”

“Are you guys excited for another 21st century post-modern, realistic interpretation of a silly comic book character?” said the clueless Hollywood producer.

    No.

    Not excited one bit.

DISGUSTED. I was waiting for ELECTRO since the first Spider-Man and I will boycott the movie.

Gee… potentially decent looking costume on screen or crappy looking green spandex with giant yellow lightning star shape as a face mask…

I wonder. Which will look less shit? I’ll take the new version. As long as he’s got the same powers, I’m fine with it. The Joker didn’t look the same, Batman didn’t look anything like the comics, Superman in the trailers looks awesome but not like the old comics, Doc Ock in Spidey 2 was a total reimagining and looked awesome…

Stop pissing and whining and wait for some shots or a trailer. You’ve been taught this lesson a hundred times in the past, you’d think you’d fucking learn by now.

    Thank you

So wait, they have a grown man swinging around in a blue and red spandex suit covered in webs who swings around NY on spider webs in part 1, They said they want to make the costume look more like the comic in part 2. But they are worried about Electro looking too comic book(y) and are aiming for something more grounded in reality?!?! Retard says what?

    Catwoman!!! YEAH!

if they make electro’s suit modern then why not turn spidey into a ninja?

Batman, Joker, and Superman all wear costumes that contain clear iconic elements straight from the comics, with allowances made for real-world materials and the necessities of stunt work. Doc Ock has had many costumes over the years, but the movie version retained the three things everyone recognizes: mechanic arms, goggles, and the rotund body. Even Amazing Spidey’s costume, which got a lot of hate from the set photos, turned out looking great on film.

Frankly, Electro’s traditional costume is a God awful hangover from the 60s and he’s been in desperate need of a redesign. I just hope modern and “grounded” (yuk yuk) doesn’t mean he’ll look like a walking iPod.

Is Jamie Foxx going to be singing and cracking jokes throughout the whole movie?

    The new cat woman…. Rrrowrrrrr

Doc ock was a pretty big departure. His goggles became sunnies, his tentacles were given ‘identities’, but I’d hardly say he was rotund given Molina was rockin a nearly washboard stomach during parts of it shirtless. The costumes have elements of course but they’re still wildly different. Look at superman now? Great looking suit. But wildly different at the same time. Batman shared more in common with SWAT armour than anything else. Remove the cowel and the cape and its unrecognisable. I’m not complaining. I love that its a real life serviceable suit. Some things work on screen and some don’t. Batmans suit is one of them. It needs to be more practical. This is why I’m not concerned with what they do with electro. It’s all in the performance. We know Foxx is brilliant. We know he will knock it out of the park and we know he’ll have fun doing so. So I’m not gonna fret. I don’t think you will either. But those who do? Fucking sucks to be them…

Why don’t they just create an entirely new villain? First, he’s black and not white and now his costume is entirely different. I think the producers know he’s peaking with DJANGO and just want to capitalize on having a big name play the part to draw more of an audience. He has nothing that makes him an ideal candidate to play Electro.

I think they could have done a riff off the green and gold costume and worked elements of it into a new, high-tech outfit. Then we’d have the best of both worlds.
