‘The Raid: Redemption’ Sequel ‘Berandal’ Rounds Up Its Cast

Berandal, the sequel to last years’ martial arts action masterpiece The Raid: Redemption, is ramping up towards production, and writer-director Gareth Evans has found his principal cast members.

Iko Uwais is returning in the main hero role.

New to the sequel are Julie Estelle (Macabre) as the baddie Hammer Girl, Alex Abbad,Marsha Timothy (The Forbidden Door), and Indonesian stars Mathias Muchus and Tio Pakusadewo.

Cecep Arif Rahman, a well-known practitioner of the martial art known as silat, is getting a major role in the film.  Whether he’s playing a good guy or bad guy is unknown.

Excited for more batshit Indonesian bloodshed?

    A classic. I don’t feel too badly about Dredd’s lack of box office sizzle since it copied ‘The Raid’ a bit too much.

    Dredd was shooting in November 2010, before The Raid was even close to shooting. It was just bad timing.

    I’m all or creative sequel titles but ‘Berandal’??? Just call it The Raid part II.

    Considering all the facts, it looks highly likely that The Raid in fact copied from Dredd. Dredd was in production long before The Raid, it was took longer to come out, probably due to post-production FX.
