Christopher Nolan Responds To Rumors Of Joseph Gordon-Levitt As Batman In ‘Man Of Steel’ & ‘Justice League’

The folks over at Movieline caught up with Christopher Nolan at a museum event for Hugh Jackman, and they were able to ask the director/producer about the rumors of Joseph Gordon-Levitt taking over the mantle of Batman in future films.

Specifically they asked if JG-L would make a cameo in next summer’s Man of Steel, which Nolan is producing, as a teaser for his official appearance as Batman in Justice League.

Nolan’s (smiling) response:

“I can’t talk about that.  You know that.”

What a wry way to answer that question.  Could be misdirection, could be contractually obligated nothingness.  Wait and see.

Please Nolan…stay away from superhero movies. we don’t need that dismal, washed out color, pretencious superheros.

Knowing Nolan it’s a bit of both

They better not use JGL as batman. First of all Nolans dark knight world is not the same as supermans world, it’s just not, secondly Leave nolans trilogy as is, don’t ruin it but making saidequels or seuels (unless nolan comes back to direct and balecomes back to star…dark knight returns anybody?) and lastly, Batman is bruce wayne. audiences don’t want to see someone else in the suit, John blake became nightwing at the end of TDKR not batman

Thank you Nolan for making Batman relevant again. I’ll give you a pass for completely ruining your Dark Knight trilogy with TDKR, but only if you keep “Robin” Batman kid AWAY from Justice League. Bruce Wayne is Batman. Give the fans a chance to see an amped up, formidable, badass Batman team up with Superman for a World’s Finest or Justice League movie. No more Nolanverse, please. It was nice while it lasted (well, at least until that last one).

If anything he’d probably end up being an mix of Terry Mcguiness, Tim Drake & Dick Grayson and kind of be a Nightwing/Batman Beyond hybrid

so happy his time on batman is over. i like jgl, but i want bruce wayne in the justice league movie, not john blake. im not a big fan of nolans batman movies and any ground the dark knight made, rises destroyed to me. i want a batman whos a detective, not just a rich guy with smart friends.

i always thought blake was joining bruce-batman as a side kick, not taking over “batman”

While TDKR was a flawed film it definitely was far from terrible like some of you say. It did it’s job of closing up Nolan’s vision of Batman (which I personally enjoyed even though it was a departure from the comics) and it also followed the theme of how powerful of a weapon fear can be. Also I found Bane to be fantastic. With that being said though I hope that the Batman that’s tied to the Justice League has no ties to the Nolanverse due to the fact that it just simply wouldn’t fit. I’d say that Batman is due for a fresh start and I, like some of you, am ready for a noir-esque detective Batman.

TDKR was the best in the series

    Yea I said it
