New ‘Welcome To The Punch’ Trailer: James McAvoy Puts The Pieces Together

In 2010, Welcome To The Punch landed on the Brit List of best unproduced British screenplays. Thankfully, James McAvoy was cast in the lead and the project made it through, and now we’ve got the film’s very first trailer, which is all kinds of cool. Check it out below.

Eran Creevy wrote and directed the film, which is being described as an epic crime thriller about a detective’s journey to bring down a notorious crook named Jacob Sternwood, played by Mark Strong (Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, Zero Dark Thirty).

In 2008, Creevy wrote and directed Shifty, an urban thriller about the life of a young drug dealer. The film scored great reviews, despite its low budget, and played at the London Film Festival that year.

Welcome To The Punch hits theaters on March 15, 2013, and also stars David Morrissey, Peter Mullan, Daniel Mays and Andrea Riseborough.

The newly released trailer has a cool demeanor, with exciting cinematography, bad guys in gas masks and McAvoy behaving like a badass. If you’re into British crime dramas, this one’s for you.

Official synopsis:

Welcome to the Punch presents the story of a former criminal, Jacob Sternwood (Mark Strong) who is forced to return to London from his Icelandic hideaway when his son is involved in a heist gone wrong. This gives detective Max Lewinsky (James McAvoy) one last chance to catch the man he has always been after. As they face off, they start to uncover a deeper conspiracy they both need to solve in order to survive.”
