Ashley Tisdale Cast As Nicolas Cage’s Daughter In ‘Left Behind’

The film Left Behind is exactly what you think it is. It tells the story of a family that was left behind after The Rapture, which (for those of you who might not be familiar with the term), according to Christians, is the second coming of Jesus Christ. It’s been announced that actress Ashley Tisdale has been cast to play Nicolas Cage’s daughter in said film.

Left Behind follows Chloe Steele, the daughter of Cage’s Ray Steele, who wanders America looking to find any remaining members of her family after millions of people disappear from Earth. Chad Michael Murray is also attached to star.

Vic Armstrong, best known for his work as a stunt coordinator, is directing the film, which is actually an adaptation of the bestselling faith-based novels by Tim LaHaye and Jerry B. Jenkins. Previously, there was a trilogy of Left Behind movies, starring Kirk Cameron. But the property’s producers are aiming to garner some mainstream attention, hence their casting choices.

Filming is expected to start in early spring for a late 2013 release by Samuel Goldwyn Films.

    So…
It’s sorta the sequel to ‘Knowing’?
    Ok.

ugh, I was hoping Leftovers would take off, but this might muddle things up.

Why is this happening? Honestly. These books are the closest thing to a venereal disease you can get in written form.

Two things are very clear here: You don’t care for the subject matter and you have absolutely no understanding of how Hollywood works otherwise you would’ve understood that the COLOSSAL following this series has is the reason this is “happening”.

Skewed thinking often leads to bad decisions which result in venereal diseases. Be careful…

No, actually I was referring to the fact that I read the first three books in an attempt to understand why such badly written tripe was so popular and the reason seemed to evade my understanding. But, don’t feel bad. I feel the same way about “Twilight”, “The Hunger Games” and pretty much every other popular book series that has come out in the past decade. However, you’re right: I don’t care for the subject matter and it was bad enough when my ultra-religonut uncle was forcing Kirk Cameron’s ‘acting abilities’ on me, I don’t see the need for a big budget effort AT ALL. The books are horribly written, contrived, predictable garbage. The incompetent dialogue alone should have kept this crap from ever being considered as a major Hollywood property.

This has to be a joke.

As much as I’d like to, I can’t argue with a thing you’ve just said, but I will say that If executed properly and with a strong writer and solid cast, the subject matter that the book series deals with could be a sizable draw. For that reason, I have low expectations for this series, but do get why they’re trying.

Hollywood fails over and over to cater to the religious crowd and I don’t know exactly why. The Kirk Cameron movies were awful, but that had nothing to do with the subject matter. Everyone said “no” to Mel and he made a period piece about a violent execution in a language that hasn’t existed for years and now has enough money to buy an island a year for the rest of his life.

Its not ‘the sort of sequel to KNOWING’, its a Premillenial-based fictional novel. It purports to be “Biblically-based fiction” but what it IS is bad “Pulp-Theology”! LaHaye and Jenkins had a great premise and mangled it with little or no editing and threw it out for public consumption! Inaccurate and FLAWED Theology and amateurish writing DOES NOT a quality film franchise make! We’ll see id this reboot has wings or not….

    That certainly sounds more interesting…
