In case the ludicrous news of Ashton Kutcher playing Steve Jobs in a movie passed you over months prior, allow me to remind you: Kutcher, star of Dude Where’s My Car? and the replacement for Charlie Sheen on Two and a Half Men, somehow wriggled his way into playing Apple Computer’s Steve Jobs in a biopic entitled Jobs.
The movie’s already finished and is slated to premiere at this month’s Sundance Film Festival. The movie doesn’t have a distributor, though Open Road Films is negotiating for those rights and is close to finalizing a deal.
Jobs is not the Sony-produced film being written by Aaron Sorkin. A production start has not yet been announced for that project, and neither has a star nor a director. Perhaps Sony isn’t too worried about a competing Steve Jobs movie, considering it’s hard to imagine Kutcher giving a decent performance.
Or not, maybe it’ll be a surprise winner. We’ll find out by the end of the month.
