Little is known about Marvel’s foray into the depths of the universe, but it is definitely gaining steam. The rag-tag group of space defenders, “The Guardians of the Galaxy,” is getting its cast ready.
Possibly, the newest addition to the crew which will include five members will be Michael Rosenbaum. His Twitter says: “Read for my pal @JamesGunn GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY for PETER QUILL. What a treat! Thanks Jimmy. @Marvel.”
Rosenbaum is not new to the superhero game. He portrayed the evil manipulative Lex Luthor against the altruistic nature of Clark Kent/Superman in the popular TV series “Smallville.” The series took place during Superman’s formative years for an enduring ten season run.
James Gunn is the man running the show, being the writer and director of Marvel’s newest release. One which seems will not feature any of the popular Avengers, which will be a first for Disney. Gunn is known for horror-themed works such as “Dawn of the Dead,” “Slither,” and “Scooby-Doo.” His inventiveness for terror might shed some light on the tone the movie will probably take.
The character Peter Quill has been a much rumored casting spot which previously had “The Hobbit’s” Lee Pace auditioning for it as well as Joseph Gordon-Levitt (Click here to read Da7e’s article on JGL.). Quill, who goes by the name Star-Lord, is an astronaut who comes into contact with galactic life-forms which bestow the responsibilities of an interplanetary policeman unto him. Besides the generic super-strength, Star-Lord has an Elemental Gun which projects earth, fire, air, or water and also shares a psychic link with his spaceship.
“Guardians of the Galaxy” is slated for release for August 2014.
