Concept Art For Sam Raimi’s ‘Spider-Man 2′ Lizard Released

Marc Webb’s The Amazing Spider-Man was far from perfect, but one thing that many critics seemed to dislike was the design of The Lizard, played by Rhys Ifans.

Now, thanks to ComicBookMovie, we have a chance to see what Sam Raimi’s reptile might have looked like. The images were designed by Constantine Sekeris, who produced the concept art for Spider-Man 2 way back when Raimi was planning to have Spidey go up against Dylan Baker’s Dr. Curt Connors, Alfred Molina’s Doctor Octopus and James Franco’s Harry Osborn.

    I love how the thought of giving the 7 foot tall lizard man a snout like in the comics is to outlandish to be considered

    The second one’s very faithful; however I’m glad they cut it out of SM2, would have been overstuffed. SM2 is still one of the best comic book movies ever, TASM was meh and I never need to watch it again.

    I prefer TAS hands down. The lizard was meh but the rest of it was much more entertaining. The use of practical effects did it for me. Raimi’s Spiderman was a 2 hour cartoon by the end of the series.

    I hated TASM. There, I said it. Not cause “it wasn’t my Spiderman.” Judging it solely on its merits as a movie, it just irked me on so many levels. But that’s my humble opinion.

    That aside, I don’t know that you could ever really make the Lizard NOT look goofy (TASM is a case in point) so why not just go full Lizard and take the lumps that come with it.
