There has been plenty of talk concerning casting on “Guardian of the Galaxy,” an unknown commodity which is projected to be a success due to its link to the Marvel Universe. Much has been said about the lead character Star-Lord, but what about the other members?

There are three names that have the leg-up on the competition for the role of Drax the Destroyer. According to the source, the three actors considered will be Isaiah Mustafa, Dave Bautista, and Brian Patrick Wade.

Mustafa is best known for his humorous “Old Spice” deodorant commercials and appearing in “Horrible Bosses.” He has previously expressed interest in playing Marvel’s Luke Cage. The next candidate, Bautista, has been involved in WWE and recently appeared in the RZA-directed “The Man with the Iron Fists.” Lastly, is Wade who has made a living on TV, most notably “NCIS” and “The Big Bang Theory.”

The character Drax used to be Arthur Douglas. Unfortunately, he and his family are attacked by Thanos and left for dead. He would later get his chance for revenge when his soul was placed in a stronger body for the explicit purpose of battling the Mad Titan. One of the more interesting powers at Drax’s disposal is the ability to sense Thanos’ presence from light-years away. It seems more and more likely that this movie will be a springboard for Thanos into mainstream consciousness.

Casting is finally shifting, and now in contrast to Star-Lord, the speculation can focus on Drax. “Guardians of the Galaxy” will be released August of 2014.

    Mustafa is perfect.
    The voice, physique, and presence…

Bautista is at best, a Direct-To ‘Name Your Media’ actor…
In addition to being, clearly, much to WWE recognizable.

    Brian Patrick Wade…
Has he ever NOT played a jerk bully @sshat.
Wouldn’t buy him now, as a good guy, no matter how bad@ss.

Drax really isn’t a good guy. He’s got a pretty one track mind in eliminating Thanos and gets his hands dirty with no problem.

Mustafa would work well if he bulked up but I honestly think it’d be cool to see Bautista get the role. He’d have to stretch himself a bit more as an actor and it’d be interesting to see if he could live up to the task

    Truth! :)

    They are all workable options…
Bautista would probably be the most feral…
Brian would seem a programmed juggernaut…
Mustafa, I would like to see his charisma add a layer.

I’m feelin’ Batista for this for some strange reason, even though I agree, his range is pretty limited. But I feel like it could work. I’d like to see Mustafa in a comic movie too, though,

    Mufasa would be best

I don’t know the character but i can assume Drax the Destroyer is a man of few words almost no acting at all, right?

well what is more intimidating man than Bautista? really what do you think?
