Michael Bay is producing the next adventure of our favorite heroes on the half shell, titled Ninja Turtles. The film was originally scheduled for release in 2013, but was pushed back to May 16, 2014.

Production Weekly has tweeted that Ninja Turtles will begin filming in NYC in April of this year.

There’s no casting announcements yet, but I imagine they will be coming soon.

Assuming they both appear in the new film, who would you like to see play April or Casey Jones? Who do you want as the turtles or Splinter?

No thanks, Bay. The new Nick show is enough green for me. It’s cool, it’s violent (to an all-ages degree), it’s funny, it’s got personality to spare. Most of all, it understands who the Turtles are and puts enjoyable dialog in their mouths. And while April is admittably weak so far, Splinter is more badass than he’s ever been.

    I’m keen for some green!

However, I do agree, the new show (despite it looking awful in the original trailers) has nailed the Turtles! Their designs and personalities are spot on. Funny and the fight choreography is stunning. Splinter took a while for me to get used to as he is not the old Yoda style sensei that the other incarnations have been, instead, a kick ass strict master. I like it!

Shredder is awesome too. The Krangs are annoying though but I see they are developing something, most likely the technodrome. And I wait weekly to see if Bebop and Rocksteady ever make an appearance. My only big gripe, is when it goes off on one, silly villains each week some with bad concepts others ugly designs. But the main thread is enjoyable, but its the Turtles themselves that steal it. And the voice overs, i would like to see in this new movie. That i hope stays faithful to the source, keeps these new designs/or like the 1990 movie (my favorite).
I grew up with the Turtles and I dont want some Hack effort thats going to ruin whats all there already. It has massive potential! Especially with the mixed Mocap/and costume route. But I seen some ridiculous costume designs on the net lately where they have armour and stripes etc.. WTF?

Sounds like they may go older, by cutting the “Teenage” if so my own concept sculpture that LR posted last year … Is how I’d like to see it personally, if not, like the new Show designs is the way forward.

I really want to see an all new story and new characters… tired of recycled material from Hollywood, atleast give me some new semi recycled stories if you cant think of anything new!

Ninja Turtles with aliens backgrounds and tons of explosions i presume. Are they still aliens in this, please tell me their will be pizza!

You know, I would rather get a Turtles movie that is at least somewhat enjoyable to watch then no movie at all. While I enjoy the movies from my childhood, I would still like to see what Hollywood can come up with with today’s technology. Although Bay’s production company would not be my first choice for this project, they are teaming up with one of the original creators so it could be interesting. I haven’t watched the new TV series but from what i’ve seen it’s very much like the original TV show, and that’s all well and good for television but I would like to see a movie that is dark like the 1st one and takes examples from the turtle’s comic book origin. Again, if i have to choose between a movie from Bay or no Turtles at all, I will take my chances and hope that a movie comes out of it that is at the very least a “Good ‘Bad’ Movie”.

    “heroes on the half shell?”

It’s “heroes in a half shelf.”

They’re will be, don’t worry their will be.

Dude, the new show might be youth-friendly like the old show, but its storytelling, fight choreography and soundtrack is head and shoulders above. Yes, even the soundtrack. Despite what you think of the theme song, the incidental music is kick ass. Check it out. Every episode isn’t a classic, but it’s worth watching them all in order. The evolution of the Turtles as fighters is a major theme, and seeing that develop has been a real treat.

The CGI Turtles movie that came out a few years ago was great! I don’t know why so many people haven’t seen it. Poor promoting?

    Oops thanks. What Mike said.
