‘Evil Dead’ Earns NC-17 Rating, Film Re-Cut Into A Hard R

Fede Alvarez, director of the Evil Dead remake, took to Twitter to answer a fan’s question about the finished film’s MPAA rating.  It turns out that the original cut earned an NC-17, which is a big no-no when it comes to big studio releases.  An NC-17 basically means: nope, we ain’t showing it in our theater.  Alvarez admits that although it made him proud to have earned that rating, he ultimately had to re-cut the film into a hard R so it would get released.  Sounds like the film just might be awesome, or at the very least, gory as hell.
