After wowing audiences with his web series Mortal Kombat: Legacy, writer/director Kevin Tancharoen is working on the aptly titled sequel, Mortal Kombat: Legacy 2. He posted a pic of the cast, which you can see right here:

Mortal Kombat

Tancharoen’s other directing credits include Fame (2009) and Glee: The 3D Concert Movie, so the dark, violent and stylized world of Mortal Kombat seems like an obvious step.

Given he started out with the faux trailer, then did the web series…. Yes? Unless I missed some joke there… it just seems needlessly sarcastic?

I like the fact that they kept the guy who played Shao Khan in the first movie all the way through the sequel and webisodes right through to this remake.

His older looks now make him look even more like Shao Khan than he did before.

Not liking the ‘just-rolled-out-of-bed’ hipster looking Raiden though.
But maybe they’ll fix that in post with some CGI

The guy with the hat isn’t Raiden. That’s Marc Dacascos as Kung Lao.

I am happy he is in this. The guy needs work! Also, he didnt play Shao Khan he played Shang Tsung. One of the Russian guys from Three Amigos, one of my favorite movies, played Shao Khan.

If tone, talent and tape trend along the Web Series, then I think this could a lot of fun.
