Elizabeth Olsen And Bryan Cranston Might Join ‘Godzilla’ Reboot

Elizabeth Olsen

Sundance ‘It Girl’ Elizabeth Olsen and Breaking Bad‘s Bryan Cranston might join Aaron Johnson in the upcoming Godzilla reboot, which is being directed by Gareth Edwards.

Both actors are currently in talks to join the Warner Bros./Legendary project, but no deals will officially be signed until Frank Darabont finishes the script.

Talking about the script, the plot details are still under wraps, but Darabont did mention during a recent interview that he wanted this film to be a “terrifying force of nature,” not any of that cliche “thinly disguised romance or bromance or whatever.” Still, we have no idea what roles Olsen, Cranston or Johnson will be playing.

Production is expected to start next month, which means we’ll know the official cast soon enough.

Olsen has shown a great deal of talent in indie films like Martha Marcy May Marlene and Silent House. We’re not surprised that she’s looking for bigger, more financially ambitious projects. She’s already in Spike Lee’s Oldboy remake, and Paramount wanted her for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot. She also did some tests for Captain America: Winter Soldier, but the role eventually went to Emily VanCamp. Olsen deserves to be a part of a big film or franchise, if that’s what she wants. We just hope it’s something more like The Hunger Games, not Twilight.

As for Cranston, he’s been busy on all fronts. He’s been making a lot of movies while still having a full-time job on TV. Soon he’ll go off their air and will have all the time in the world to make movies, which is alright with us.

Godzilla is slated for a May 16, 2014 release.

Elizabeth Olsen is a great choice. Cranston suffers from over exposure, and isn’t all that anyhow. What about Paul Dano or Norman Reedus or somebody like that?

  • Mark Brannan

More like The Hunger Games? How about more like an Adult movie?
