David O. Russell is lining up his future projects with familiar faces. His next film, once titled American Bullsh*t, stars Bradley Cooper, Christian Bale and Amy Adams. And now, word is that he’s reuniting with Jennifer Lawrence for the drama The Ends of the Earth.
The film is based on a true story about a powerful oil tycoon named Ernest Marland, who loses everything after he is caught in an affair with his adopted daughter Lydie Marland (Lawrence). The film is being set up at the Weinstein Company, and is also being produced by Todd Black, Steve Tisch and Jason Blumenthal. The script was written by Argo scribe Chris Terrio.
The Ends of the Earth won’t go into production until Russell finishes the movie with Cooper, Bale and Adams. Lawrence also has a minor role in that movie. The Oscar-nominated director has spoken very-highly of the actress, and him casting her in both of his upcoming projects means he likes having her around.
He told THR that Lawrence “possesses a self-deprecating humor that made all of the cast and crew feel at ease,” and that he likes that she values family above all. We look forward to their many collaborations.
