The folks over at SuperHeroHype got the exclusive first look at the new costume that will be featured “The Amazing Spider-Man 2.”

The new costume looks like Mark Bagley’s take in Ultimate Spider-Man.

In The Amazing Spider-Man™ 2, for Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield), life is busy – between taking out the bad guys as Spider-Man and spending time with the person he loves, Gwen (Emma Stone), high school graduation can’t come quickly enough. Peter hasn’t forgotten about the promise he made to Gwen’s father to protect her by staying away – but that’s a promise he just can’t keep. Things will change for Peter when a new villain, Electro (Jamie Foxx), emerges, an old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, and Peter uncovers new clues about his past.

The film is directed by Marc Webb from a screenplay by Alex Kurtzman & Roberto Orci & Jeff Pinkner, with a previous draft by James Vanderbilt, and based on the Marvel Comic Book by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko.

The latest chapter in the Spider-Man story is set for release in 3D on May 2, 2014.

Looks awesome. I wondered why they didn’t do this the first time round to differentiatie from the Raimi costume….!

They only reason they change the costume is to sell more toys each film. If he looked the same then kids would only want one action figure.

I feel like a putz for saying this but all the Spider-Man costumes pretty much look the same to me. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ekmtkQEGt-Y

um yeah whats the difference? sorry im not a spidey expert, i would need to see side by side comparisons to know exactly whats different.

So now they’ve gone back to curved webbing (like Raimi Spiderman and essentially the classic Spiderman design) , got rid of the stupid Spalding Basketball texturing (still some texturing visible, but i guess that’s unavoidable with today’s ADD costume designers), and finally they’ve gone back to more pronounced raised webbing (like Raimi Spiderman)

In fact the only thing differentiating it from Raimi Spiderman is the chest logo (and the texturing on the blue parts).

So what was the whole point of changing it at all in the first place?

    Oh yeah, I forgot,….

……a pathetic attempt to make people forget that this was a nothing but an shameless cash-grab masquerading as an unnecessary remake.

This IS the Sam Raimi suit with a different eye piece. Even the texture on the costume is the same. I call BS

  • Eric Tuma

See? It’s the same with a different eye piece.

  • rsixsmith

the eyes for one are more rounded and fill more of the face like the ultimate version, for example- although that motif shows up in other versions as well. depends on the penciler.

  • ReyNegrin

    Exactly, same but little differences.

  • YourMomma

I think this is a manip (manipulation picture) done in photoshop. Regardless it still look cool. I think they will keep the same texture from the last movie and just make the eyes bigger.

I’m so excited for this to come out! I was leery when The Amazing Spiderman came out because I enjoyed the Spiderman trilogy, and I didn’t understand why it needed to be remade. One of the guys I work with at DISH explained to me the differences in the comics, and so I decided to give TAS a chance. I went home that night and streamed it through the Blockbuster @Home app on my DISH Hopper, and I loved it! I’m so glad that I was able to go straight home and enjoy the movie rather than hunt it down at a Redbox.
