‘Ender’s Game’ Releases Battle Logos

Ender's Game

It been a long time coming, but technology has finally caught up to the point where movies based on space warfare can happen. The morally shadowy world of “Ender’s Game” is finally coming to the big screen and as such the most fervent of fans get a special teaser of what will come.

The new picture showcases four distinct logos that will represent the film’s battle schools. The bestial images evoke a malignancy which is important for the tone of the film. The four creatures are a rat, a salamander, a snake, and a dragon.

The book is a futuristic war-tale where Earth is in constant threat of an alien menace called the Formics. These creatures are insect-like in appearance and have a hive mentality. Two wars between the two sides have arisen and Earth is preparing for a third and final confrontation. Mankind then forms battle schools for the best and brightest children, in order to find the one whose tactical brilliance eliminates the Formics, once and for all.

“Ender’s Game” has taken a long time to become film material because of author Orson Scott Card’s need to maintain artistic control. Some potential casting choices would have included Will Smith or Andre Braugher as war hero Mazer Rackham and “Phantom Menace’s” Jake Lloyd as the titular protagonist. It remains to be seen if the movie will be as controversial as its source material. Though the novel has been generally well-regarded, literary critics have disparaged the characters’ violent action and their justifications.

“Ender’s Game” is starring Harrison Ford, Ben Kingsley, and Asa Butterfield as Ender. The film is set for release November 1st 2013.
