Check out the awesome new trailer that Disney-Pixar has just released for Monsters University, in Japanese. As I do not speak Japanese, I had to focus on the visuals, no problem. The animation is so crisp. I’m mad excited to see this movie.

I’ve been wondering what role Sulley’s archnemesis Randall would play in the film. Is he the main antagonist in this film too? Or just a minor bully? He appears at 2:02 in the trailer, racing Sulley down a football field.

I wasn’t sure how they would make a prequel to Monsters Inc. but they Pixar is creative enough to build a story around their characters when there doesn’t appear to be one.

Synopsis:

Mike Wazowski and James P. Sullivan are an inseparable pair, but that wasn’t always the case. From the moment these two mismatched monsters met they couldn’t stand each other. “Monsters University” unlocks the door to how Mike and Sulley overcame their differences and became the best of friends. Screaming with laughter and fun, “Monsters University” is directed by Dan Scanlon (“Cars,” “Mater and the Ghostlight,” “Tracy”) and produced by Kori Rae (“Up,” “The Incredibles,” “Monsters, Inc.”).

Starring: Billy Crystal, John Goodman, Steve Buscemi, Dave Foley, Julia Sweeney, Joel Murray and Peter Sohn.

This movie looks like it might be as good as Toy Story 3 was.

Where will this one rank among Pixar’s other films? Top five, bottom five?

Monster’s University is out June 21st, 2013.
