We Need To Talk About “Jane Got A Gun”

Deadline reports, that after signing on to co-star in the film Jane Got A Gun last weekJude Law has dropped out. Before I mention anything else about this movie, know that the Director Lynne Ramsay (We Need To Talk About Kevin) dropped out yesterday.

According to Deadline, she just didn’t show up on the first day of filming.

Although the picture’s financer Scott Steindorff said that he is “shocked” and “disappointed”, he already has millions wrapped up in this endeavor and he wants to see it through. Gavin O’Connor (MiracleWarrior) is now directing.

Back to the story…

Law was supposed to play the ex-lover of a woman (played by Natalie Portman) who asks for his help in defending her ranch and outlaw husband from a villainous gang leader.

In August, Michael Fassbender was in talks to co-star as the ex-lover. Last week, he exited.

With Fassbender out, Joel Edgerton (previously set to play the villain) moved into the ex-lover role with the intention that Law would now play the villain. We will wait to see if Edgerton moves back into the villain role or if he will stay put while they replace the villain role.

At this point, if they really want to save this film, they should make it a reality series.

When Law and Fassbender and Ramsay don’t want to work with Oscar-winner Natalie Portman, something is wrong. Portman is also serving as a producer on the project so she might be stuck.

Example of the politics of movie making…producers and directors not seeing eye to eye.
