With the car engine still warm, it was announced by Vin Diesel at Universal Pictures’ presentation at CinemaCon yesterday that a “Fast & Furious 7” is set for a release date for July 11, 2014.
Diesel was joined with his “Fast & Furious 6” co-stars including Paul Walker, Jordana Brewster, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson and Gina Carano.
It is not known who will definitely be returning for a seventh film in the franchise. Earlier this month, Dwayne Johnson believed he cannot return to the franchise due to his upcoming commitment to “Hercules.”
“Insidious” director James Wan plans to take over the franchise after Justin Lin. The sixth film will be in theaters on May 24.
In addition, Diesel also remarked the importance of Latino audiences to the “Fast & Furious” franchise. For the “Fast Five” opening weekend, latino audiences comprised of one-third of the total audience in the United States.
