EXCLUSIVE: Could This Be The Logline Of The Upcoming ‘Fantastic Four’ Reboot?

Not much is known plotwise about Josh Trank’s upcoming Fantastic Four reboot, but I found this little nugget of information and thought it was interesting.

Two friends (who end up being Mr. Fantastic and The Thing), starts with them being really young.  An event happens at 16 that changes them, instead of being superheroes, they are basically owned by the government and used as weapons.

So I guess Reed Richards and crew ain’t going up into space as teenage astronauts & getting bombarded by cosmic radiation. Will be interesting to see how this plays out if it sticks. What do you Fantastic Four fanboys think of the re-imagined origin? Chime in your thoughts below.

Last thing we heard officially about the project is that Seth-Grahame Smith is currently rewriting the script.

Fantastic Four is set for a March 6, 2015 release.

Jeremy Slater, one of the writers of film just said the following on twitter

Based on initial reactions, fanboys can now sigh relief. Calm down you kooky kids!

Onto the next one…

always FOXING up perfectly good story content! Marvel needs to get tough and take the rights AWAY! Stop FOXING things up man!

  • Tim Vo

Mark Millar is running things over a Fox “Super Hero” movies now, so I doubt this is true unless it’s the Ultimates Version where they kinda belonged to the government after they came back from being exposed to gamma rays

If they feel absolutely compelled to give an origin story, can they at least give us a Jack Kirby Cosmic Ray storm complete with the TIC TIC TIC and iconic green isotopes that filled their rocketship in the very first issue?

I mean, Goddamn, how ’bout some reverence to the source material?

You need to go some where dude, ur scoops are not scoops.

I really have a bad feeling about this. This might be the clusterfuck event of comic book movies…..the good thing, is that it brings FF closer to returning to Marvel.

that’s probably where it’s coming from… sans the fact that one of the writers called complete bullshit on this story.

For the Love of… Reboot it, sure, but just start off with them already the Fantastic 4!! It’s not like it’s been 40 years since the last movie! Just start off with the action and don’t waste our time sowing us how they became who they are! Why does everything have to be a friggin’ origin story!!??

  • Robert carter

Source material? how come its ok for Marvel Studios to take the outdated gamma bomb out of the Hulk’s origin but everyone has a sh.tfit if FOX does the same thing.

Marvel Studios has based the Marvel Cinematic Universe off mostly Millar’s Ultimates versions of the characters.

Look at Caps WW2 uniform.Ultimates.Hulk being based off the Supersoldier serum.Ultimates.

Thats not Kirby and Stan Lee.If FOX uses the same sources for an updated FF origin, why is it a problem besides the fact its not Marvel Studios doing the film?

Why would Lee and Kirby’s original premise not apply to the 21st Century?

With all of NASA’s recent budget cuts, there has been increased interest in private/commercial space exploration. Reed Richards could already be a self made billionaire who builds his own space shuttle which he will co-pilot alongside his BFF Benjamin J. Grimm. Maybe the press dubbed Reed “Mr. Fantastic” prior to the accident because he was such a boy wonder who had succeeded at everything until the cosmic rays hit.

Lastly, they SHOULD’VE used the Gamma Bomb testing in the Hulk movie and somehow tied it to Obadiah Stane and Stark Industries in the first Iron Man. It would’ve been a more logical explanation that connected Bruce and Tony.

El Mayimbe is so f*cking awesome!!!

  • Robert carter

Like the idea of Reed being a comic book version of Richard Branson.

As far as Marvel Studios should’ve used the Gamma Bomb, the point is they didn’t and fanboys have given them a pass. If fans demand source material they should demand it across the board.

Sure looks like it. They stayed semi-true to the comics with their first film, so now they see how terrible they turned out to be they want to go for something darker and grittier all while making up things as they go along. Not a good sign.
