The Hollywood Reporter writes that Iron Man 3 scribe Drew Pearce will write the next Mission: Impossible film which already has Tom Cruise signed on.
The film is expected to begin filming in the fall once Cruise is finished working on Warner Bros’ The Man From U.N.C.L.E.
Pearce also worked with Guillermo del Toro and others as a writer for Pacific Rim.
Christopher McQuarrie (wrote The Usual Suspects, directed Jack Reacher) is expected to direct the latest sequel.
Plot details on the film remain under wraps.
The last Mission: Impossible film (Ghost Protocol), made nearly $700 million and solidified the franchise as one of the most lucrative of all-time.
